Founded in 1930 in San Diego by a group of community leaders. San Diego's Goodwill derives 89% of its income from revenue gained through the resale of clothing and household goods donated by the San Diego community. All donations stay in San Diego to benefit San Diegans. At the current time, we have approximately 600 employees in San Diego County. San Diego's Goodwill operates more than two dozen facilities to support our purpose. We have a supported employment program for people with developmental disabilities in our facilities and individual placements in the community. San Diego's Goodwill operates 5 Community Employment Centers providing free services to anyone in the community who is seeking a job, or a better job. We operate 10 retail stores, 3 bookstores, one outlet/auction facility and several on-line stores in addition to over a dozen free standing donation centers. We have a secure document destruction (shredding)business, a CRT (Computers and TVs) reuse/collection business. The San Diego Goodwill does not do fundraising or events, although cash donations are accepted gratefully. We are a autonomous, local not-for-profit organization governed by a local volunteer board of directors.
