Central City Concern's (CCC) mission is to "provide pathways to self-sufficiency through active intervention in poverty and homelessness." The agency has been mitigating the effects of homelessness, poverty and addictions in the Portland metropolitan area for the last 30 years. CCC has developed a profoundly effective linked network of housing and support services to help homeless and low-income individuals transition into the social and economic mainstream. This continuum of care is composed of over 1,400 units of low-income and supportive housing, primary healthcare, behavioral and complementary healthcare, drug and alcohol treatment and recovery programs, vocational training and employment placement services. This nationally recognized model provides support, stability and, above all, options to a traditionally disenfranchised and at-risk segment of the community.
“Central City Concern meets its mission through innovative outcome-based strategies which support personal and community transformation. Direct access to housing which supports lifestyle change. Integrated healthcare services that are highly effective in engaging people who are often alienated from mainstream systems. The development of peer relationships that nurture and support personal transformation and recovery. Attainment of income through employment or accessing benefits.”
